Beach Blanket Quilt Fun!

Posted by Judy Taylor on

Going to the beach or the lake this summer? How about making a light weight beach blanket quilt to take with you? A few years ago, we went to Panama City Beach in Florida on vacation on our way to Disney World. So before the trip, I made a couple of light weight beach blanket quilts for my granddaughters to lay on on the beach and to wrap up in. Believe it or not, light weight quilts are great for the beach and then just toss them in the wash and they come out great!
I made my girls beach quilts out of an Olaf Chillin' in The Sun panel and just added borders. I put a light weight piece of flannel between the quilt top and the backing and quilted it. Flannel makes a perfect light weight batting for a beach blanket quilt. And the girls just loved them!

You can make your beach quilt any size you choose and you can make them as easy or complicated as you want. You can even just use your scrap cotton fabrics and cut them into large squares and just make a bright and cheery beach quilt in large squares.

So before heading to the beach or the lake this summer, whip up a light weight summer beach blanket quilt and have fun this summer at the beach!
