PUPPY CHOW (MUDDY BUDDIES) RECIPE

Posted by Judy Taylor on

One of my families favorite Halloween recipes is PUPPY CHOW.  A lot of people call it MUDDY BUDDIES, but at my house it is called PUPPY CHOW.  It is a delicious and easy recipe to make for Halloween.  Just bag it up in cute little Halloween bags, or even just snack size Ziplock bags and give away to your Trick-or-Treaters. And I dare you to bag up this delicious treat without eating most of the mix yourself.
INGREDIENTS:

9 cups Chex Cereal (I use Corn Chex & Rice Chex)
1 package (6 ounce) semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1/2 cups powdered sugar

DIRECTIONS:

Measure cereal into large bowl.  Microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in bowl on high for one minute.  Stir.  Microwave 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smoothly.  Stir in vanilla.  Pour melted chocolate mixture over cereal and stir with wooden spoon until evenly coated.  Pour mixture into a two gallon Ziplock bag and add powdered sugar. Seal bag and shake until well coated.  Spread on wax paper or parchment paper and cool.  Store in air tight container in the refrigerator.
