I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN

I went to a funeral this afternoon of a wonderful, Christian man who had served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was laid to rest today with full military honors. If there is anything that moves me more about the military and their commitment to their country, it would be their commitment to their fellow soldiers whether living or deceased.
What a moving demonstration of gratitude as they carefully fold the flag, Kneel before the widow, and present her with the folded flag as they reverently salute and utter these words.....
“On behalf of the President of the United States, the United States Army, and a grateful nation, please accept this flag as a symbol of our appreciation for your loved one’s honorable and faithful service.”
And then a lone soldier plays the somber bugle notes of Taps. I know we have all heard Taps played by a bugle, but did you know there are lyrics to that song?
I just don't understand how an American can hate their country and the United States Military. The dedication, commitment and respect of the men and women of the U.S. Military is mind boggling. So as for me....I am proud to be an American! And I am proud of the United States Military!
