Discover Banyan Batiks
Posted by Judy Taylor on
The creation of batiks is an ancient art that has been passed down through generations of artisans. Banyan Batiks are handmade by the local artisans of Indonesia who take pride in their culture and leading expertise in batiks.
This handmade process consists of dyeing and stamping wax prints onto fabric. The workmanship and technique of each artisan is what creates the beautiful patterns and colors that make batiks so desirable. While each artisan's workmanship is unique, so is each bolt of fabric. Without compromising the quality of the batik, slight variations in color and different consistencies in print are expected in each bolt of fabric.
Different manufactures carry different lines of batik fabrics. For instance, Hoffman Fabrics line of batiks is called Bali Batiks. Timeless Treasures line is called Tonga Batiks. Maywood Fabrics batik line is called Java Batiks. And lately I have fallen in love with Northcott's batik line called Banyan Batiks.
The handwork is beautiful on Banyan Batiks LUSTRA Collection and SHADOWS Collection. Because of the time, space, and antisanship it takes to produce batik fabrics, most all batiks are made in Indonesia.
